FAQs

Who can refer?

Anyone 18 or older who is a U.S. citizen or U.S. tax resident with a valid SSN or ITIN. You don't need to be a vet.

You can't refer if you are:

  • a current Sploot employee (use the internal referral program instead)
  • a staffing agency, recruiter or search firm, or anyone paid to place candidates
  • involved in hiring for the role, or a spouse, partner or household member of someone who is
  • referring yourself
Who can I refer?

A veterinarian for an Associate Veterinarian or Clinic Medical Director role at any Sploot location (regular roles of 30+ scheduled hours a week). They must be licensed for the state they'd work in by their start date. A referral doesn't qualify if they:

  • work at Sploot now, or did in the last 12 months
  • are your spouse, domestic partner or household member
  • join Sploot through an acquisition or merger with a practice where they've worked in the last 6 months
When and how do I get paid?

$10,000 in a single payment once your referral has been employed at Sploot for 90 days. We pay within 30 days of that milestone, or of receiving your W-9, whichever is later. Payment is by direct deposit or check.

If they leave Sploot before 90 days, or move to a non-eligible role or under 30 scheduled hours a week, the payment isn't earned. Approved leave doesn't count toward the 90 days.

Is the $10,000 taxable?

Yes. Referral payments are taxable income. We'll ask for a completed IRS Form W-9 and report the payment as the law requires. If you don't return payment forms within 90 days of our written request, the payment isn't earned.

What if someone else already referred them?

Only the first complete, qualifying referral counts, based on the timestamp in our referral system. Only one payment is made per hired vet.

How long does my referral last?

12 months from the day we receive it. If they accept an offer after that, no payment is owed.

Is there a limit on how many vets I can refer?

No. There's no annual cap on referrals or payments per referrer.
